Crochet Shawl Class

April 22 @ 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm

The Virus Shawl crochet craze hit the yarn community in 2015 with Julia Marquardt’s crochet pattern of the same name. We are going to break down the pattern of the Belgium Shell crochet garment from learning how to read a crochet chart to learning how to read your own handwork stitches, and perhaps adding a bit of your own design elements.

DATE/TIME: Wednesdays, April 22 & 29; 1-3pm.

Class includes: Basic stitches: chain, single crochet, double crochet, instruction on reading crochet charts, instruction on reading crochet abbreviations in a written pattern, learn how to read your handwork, and troubleshooting in a pattern.

Required:  Confident beginner to Intermediate

Materials provided by student (the shop can help you find these):

  • An ombre yarn to see stitch definition for the learning process, e.g. Colorburst (660 yards)
  • Hook corresponding to your yarn and/or by the drape desired
  • Tapestry needle
